We continue our Sent series by looking at Luke 9:1-6, 10 when Jesus sent out the twelve disciples on a trip to proclaim the Kingdom. In this passage we see that it was always Jesus’ intention to send His people on mission (even when he was still alive) and that includes us today.

Author and speaker Simon Sinek has a book entitled, Start With Why, which has ended up on both New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. The subtitle is: “How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action.” The premise is this: if you can communicate the “why” of your organization or cause, meaning its core purpose, its reason for being, then people can rally behind that purpose. Have you ever wondered about the “Why of Jesus?” This week’s passage from Luke 4 gives us a clear idea of why Jesus came, and can inspire us to live out his mission in the world.

Have you ever been a part of building something new, or planting something new? It is no secret that to do something that has not been done before requires tearing down or uprooting. That is difficult work. Sometimes the work of removing an old tree and its roots is much, much harder than the work of planting a new one. This week, we will see how God calls Jeremiah to be about uprooting and planting for what God wants to do in the world. And, this invites us to consider what new thing God wants to do in us!
